Leigh B. Meineke
LEIGH B. MEINEKE, a graduate of Katy High School, received a BBA in Finance from Stephen F. Austin State University and a Doctorate of Jurisprudence from the University of Houston. Leigh has practiced law for over 30 years with experience in bankruptcy, construction law, corporate, criminal, divorce, estate planning, immigration, litigation, probate, and real estate. Her current practice has an emphasis in business law, estate planning/probate and real estate.
Over 30 Years of Legal Experience
Leigh has represented businesses in all phases of their operation – from creation to dissolution. For many clients, Leigh acts as outside general counsel, including reviewing, negotiating and preparing leases for office space and equipment, contracts for services, distribution agreements, franchise agreements, license agreements, collection matters and business disputes. Leigh also assists clients with the purchase and/or sale of a business, including the review and/or preparation of letters of intent, confidentiality agreements, sales agreements, promissory notes, bills of sale and other transfer documents. Leigh has participated in the filming of two commercial videos on buying and selling a business.
Leigh also helps clients with the preparation of their wills and other estate planning documents (an area that she is particularly passionate about) and assists clients with probate, walking them through the process and guardianships. She has probated not only estates with assets over several million dollars but estates that were insolvent, estates with lost wills (including one that was originally executed in Mexico), wills executed in other states and estates without wills. Leigh reviews, creates and negotiates real estate contracts, both residential and commercial, for purchase or sale, and prepares and reviews real estate transfer and loan documents. She has experience preparing and reviewing documents for several mortgage companies.
A Commitment to the Community
Leigh is proud to serve the Houston community where she makes her home. She is past Chairman of the Board of the Houston West Chamber of Commerce. She is also active with the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo for over 17 years, serving as past Vice Chairman on the Transportation Committee, Captain of the Horticulture Committee, and member on the World’s Championship BBQ Committee. Leigh has been active with the Texas bar on the Law Practice Management Committee and as chair of the GP Solo & Small Firm Section. She also has encouraged the next generation of Houston’s leaders through her membership and involvement with Leadership Houston (Class III). Additionally, Leigh is a member of NightCourt.org, a 501c(3) organization raising money through an annual all-lawyer charity show for charities providing legal services.
Leigh is also proud to donate her time as legal adviser to Pink Phurree, a dragon boat team comprised of women cancer survivors and on the advisory board of OvarCome, a organization supporting survivors of ovarian cancer,
A Commitment to Family and the Future
Leigh Meineke is also a volunteer with the AFSUSA, a program facilitating high school foreign exchange students in the Houston area. Her family has hosted four exchange students over the years – from Italy, the Czech Republic, Spain and Azerbaijan. In addition to their AFS kids, Leigh and her husband have two daughters.
